Communication & Conflict Resolution

"Somewhere beyond right and wrong, there is a garden. I will meet you there.“ (Rumi)

When communication works, it is like a flow of energy between people. In a conflict, that flow is blocked, interrupted or has turned into a painful whirlwind. What helps to bring back the flow is focussing on what we all have in common – our feelings and needs that underly everything. I offer to support you to get back in flow when you lost your way.

What is Nonviolent Communication?

„What I want in my life is compassion, a flow between myself and others based on a mutual giving from the heart.” (Marshall Rosenberg)

Marshall Rosenberg, psychologist and a student of Carl Rogers, developed  Nonviolent Communication (NVC) from the 1960s in his work as an international mediator. In doing so he identified needs as the pivotal point of human connection. These needs are to be understood as universal qualities that all beings share and the root cause for our feelings. He posts the hypothesis that all human actions are an attempt to meet a deeper need. Despite its name, NVC is not so much a particular way to communicate but more about a new approach to life. This approach is ultimately an expression of our inborn faculty for compassion.

Self Empathy & Healing

"Our greatest contribution to peace, is to create peace within ourselves“ (Marshall Rosenberg)

In order to support a truly successful communication even under difficult circumstances we need serenity and resilience. I invite you to strengthen your inner healing power, to learn to care for your own well being, and to heal old pain. As well as through workshops, I offer this both in individual coaching sessions and an evening course.

Marshall Rosenberg created a method of four steps that supports us in developing this approach.
These four steps are

observation
feeling
need
request / strategy

Learning and living NVC means first of all to practise a deep awareness oft he feelings and needs in ourselves and others. We do this in two complementary areas:
